美国高中留学概况：开学时间
一年有两次开学时间，大多是秋季开学，一般集中在8月、9月，各校具体开学时间自定，也有一些春季开学的学校，1月至3月居多。
申请周期 高中生留学，7月至9月考托福或雅思，10月考SAT1，10月至12月准备申请材料，最好在12月底将全部申请材料递出。录取周期比较短，一般6周至8周（不包括假期）。如2010年9月开学的学校，一般要在2010年2月1日递交申请，有的学校会更早。申请去美国留学，一般要提早2年做准备，托福、SAT、GRE、GMAT等考试都要时间，越早准备越有利。
签证周期 美国签证周期受使领馆预约时间、学生英文程度和心理素质的影响，周期在1至3个月之间。签证是在拿到学校的录取通知后再做准备，可在开学前3至4个月进行。
准备周期 高中生出国准备周期较长，仅凭托福或雅思成绩很难申请到一所好学校。申请美国名校，学生还要考SAT。有人将高中生留学准备周期概括为高一学、高二考、高三申请，还有的学生从初三开始准备，学英语，这样时间上更从容。
